Used Volkswagen vans are a great choice for reliability, low running costs and value for money but which one is right for you? Here's an overview of Volkswagen's latest commercial vehicles from Capels Van Centre:

A used Volkswagen Caddy is the smallest of the Volkswagen van range and is one of the most affordable, quality used vans in Wales. The Caddy is about the same size as a family hatchback and so it is easy to park. It has an impressive load volume of 3.2m3. The interior has been designed to make sure there is enough storage for a driver who spends a large part of their day on the road, with a comfortable cab with plenty of compartments for paperwork and snacks. It is possible to find a used Volkswagen Caddy in a range of specifications. The Startline is the entry level model with a 2.0 TDI engine, ABS brakes, power steering and alarm and immobiliser. The Caddy Highline is built to a higher specification, with a greater level of interior comfort including more supportive seats, air conditioning and cruise control. This model also comes with rear parking sensors, heated windscreen, front fog lights and 15" alloy wheels. The VW Caddy also comes in a Maxi Kombi version. It is versatile, allowing the driver to carry tools and a number of passengers at the same time. With all the seats fitted, it has a load capacity of 1.6 m³ and this rises to 4.1 m³ if the rear seats are removed from the car.

The most popular of all Volkswagen vans is the Transporter. One of the coolest vans on the market, if you're concerned with 'street-cred', the VW Transporter is for you. Over 12 million of these vans have been sold worldwide and it is the best-selling van in history. Used Volkswagen Transporters come in a full range of body styles including panel vans, minibuses (Kombi), dropside van, chassis cab van, as well as campervans. The T1 and T2 models are the iconic VW campervan produced from 1950 until 1979. The Transporter models most commonly seen on the road today are the T5 (2003-2016) and T6 (2016 - present). Gross vehicle weights, payload and engine output are largely unchanged between the two models: the T5 and T6 models are offered in several 2-litre diesel and petrol engines - with power outputs varying for 62kW to 150kW. There are 10 combinations for the T5 Delivery Van, with two wheelbase options, three roof heights and two seating combinations on offer. Furthermore, the Transporter Kombi van comes in 89 combinations: 17 seating packages, two wheelbase options and three roof heights to choose from.

The changes focused more on restyling the interior. Perhaps the most important difference between the T5 and the T6 are the enhanced safety features. The T6 comes with an Automatic Post Collision Braking system. It also comes with Front Assist which works with the new Adaptive Cruise Control and City Emergency Brake and to detect vehicles around it and automatically brake if necessary. Used Volkswagen Transporter panel vans have a range of cargo carrying capacity, there are two wheelbases and three roof size combinations which provide between 5.8m3 and 9.3 m3 of load space. Among the used vans for sale in Wales, the Delivery Van and Kombi versions of the T5 and T6 Volkswagen Transporter have proved most popular as they can easily be converted into a fully-functioning campervan, whilst there is also a wide range of styling accessories available to give your Transporter a sportier look.

The used Volkswagen vans with greatest load carrying capacity are the used Volkswagen Crafter. The VW Crafter is the third generation of the LT, which has been in production since 1975. It was updated in 2012 to reduce fuel consumption and emissions. This van provides excellent levels of cabin comfort and can provide up to 17m3 of cargo space. The Panel Van is available in both medium (total vehicle length of 5,986mm) and long (6,836mm) wheelbase models. An extended long wheelbase model with a total vehicle length of 7,391mm also exists. Standard roof height is 2,355mm but extended roof height models are available. The payloads range from 735kg to 1,454kg. A used Volkswagen Crafter is also often used as a chassis for a Luton van, as well as variety of tippers, tow trucks and refrigerated vehicles.

The Crafter Chassis and Double Cabs have payloads ranging from 1,472 to 3,026 kilograms, and come in Gross Vehicle Weights (GVW) of either 3.5 or 5.3 tonnes.
