Driver at courrier firm prosecuted for falsification

Every legal document about hours driven is the driver's responsibility unless proven otherwise

Three drivers have been fined and one of them was given a suspended eight-month prison sentence for falsifying driver records of hours kept.

The drivers appeared in court following an investigation from DVSA and were fined respectively:

  • £2,000 for 15 offences
  • £253 for 1 offence
  • £440 for 4 offences + £550 to pay legal costs

DVSA head of counter fraud and investigation said: "These sentences send a clear message that DVSA will pursue and prosecute any drivers and operators who fail to comply with the rules governing driver records of hours kept."
