You may see one of these on UK streets from next year.

Charge, an Oxfordshire-based company has presented its autonomous electric van at the Wired 2016 conference in London.

The company will produce vehicles weighing between 3.5 to 26 tonnes. These will be manufactured using ultra-lightweight-composite materials, allowing to reduce its weight and, by extension, its operating costs by 50%.

The company claims that its vehicles will produce zero-emissions during their first 100 miles. In the case of longer journeys, a dual mode can be used to top up the battery and extend the range to 500 miles.
